20 Worst Songs of 2024
“Karma,” - Jojo Siwa: Whether it’s the cringey “edgy” rebrand, or incredibly weak singing from Jojo, where do I begin with this track. It sounds so formulaic and boring. At least when Miley Cyrus went through her “bad girl” rebrand, she actually was a talented singer and made some decent songs. This track is easily the worst thing I’ve heard all year. The production sounds outdated, and Jojo is trying way too hard to replicate Miley, and absolutely fails on all fronts. To add insult to injury, the unreleased Brit Smith version of this song is leagues better than this track.
“Get Low,” - Z-Pain (Mark Zuckerberg and T-Pain): This is such a horrible cover that when I first heard it I thought someone made it with a AI as a joke. I had no idea that this was a real serious thing, Mark Zuckerberg singing a legendary Lil Jon song is one of the corniest things ever, like it feels like something a standup comedian would do, it’s so unserious and laughable, and I wish I had never heard it.
“Facts,” - Tom MacDonald featuring Ben Shapiro: When I review music, I generally try to keep my politics and politics as a whole out of it, because I just feel like it takes away from the music, but for this track I’m willing to make an exception. I’m far from a liberal, but this track is straight up Republican propaganda. It makes a mockery of a predominately black genre, with the lines, “This ain't rap, this ain't money, cars, and clothes. We ain't selling drugs, we ain't gonna overdose. We ain't pushing guns, ain't promoting stripper poles. We won't turn your sons into thugs or your daughters into hoes.” While sure, there’s a lot of hip hop that talks about that stuff, it’s incredibly superficial and generalizing to assume that all rappers talk about that shit. Tom really doesn’t do anything different than he usually does, which is bitch about “woke” shit and desperately try to trigger people, whereas Ben’s verse is laughably corny, and his flow and delivery is incredibly stiff. As for the production, it sounds like some generic “dramatic,” 2013-era rap beat off of YouTube.
“I LUV IT,” - Camila Cabello featuring Playboi Carti: I really didn’t want to put a track featuring Carti on this list, but he really doesn’t fit in well on this track, and the chorus sung by Camila on this song is absolutely horrendous. Her vocals are so annoying, whether it’s the verses or that irritating chorus. The production sounds generic, and uninspired, and it just reminds me how bad Camila’s latest album is.
“HOODRAT,” - ¥$ (Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign): Two artists I also didn’t want to put on this list, but the Vultures installments are some of the most disappointing and unenjoyable albums that have been released this year. The instrumental is awful with that “hoodrat” vocal sample on repeat, and both Kanye and Ty just sound bored on this track, there were a lot of bad tracks in the 2 Vultures albums that were released, but this one easily takes the cake as the worst.
All of Genre: Sadboy (mgk and Trippie Redd): I already covered how terrible this EP is, so I don’t really have much to say about it, so I recommend reading my worst albums list, but yeah this thing is terrible, thankfully short, but some of the most irritating vocals I’ve heard on any big project this year.

“Think U The Shit (Fart),” - Ice Spice: This song is literally so bad that it was made into memes, I really don’t get what her fascination with poop bars is, but it’s such an awful track, that the only way to get through it is by laughing at it.
“Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me?,” - Taylor Swift: What bothers me so much about this track is that it feels like a carbon copy of Lana Del Rey’s music, without the engaging vocal performances and powerful songwriting. It just feels like another boring Taylor Swift breakup song, she really doesn’t fit on this kind of production, and as a result it just feels really lazy.
“Wah Gwan Delilah,” - Snowd4y featuring Drake: Both vocal performances on this track are absolutely laughable. Snowd4y sounds like he’s got a bunch of jelly beans stuck in his nose, and Drake’s vocals sound like AI. It feels more like a meme rap song rather than a serious thing. This is the first thing you release after a beef with one of the best rappers of all time?
“Woman’s World,” - Katy Perry: We have officially reached a track that falls into the categories of “soccer mom music,” and “grocery store-core.” For a song that preaches feminism and female empowerment, maybe don’t work with a producer that’s been accused of rape and sexual abuse and literally went to court for it. The lyrics are laughably predictable, and the production sounds like it’s stuck in the mid-2010s. Word of advice, if you want to hear good Katy Perry music, listen to Teenage Dream or One of the Boys.
“U My Everything,” - SexxyRed featuring Drake: A great Tay Keith-produced beat, that’s absolutely ruined by two irritating lyrical performances. I’ve never been a fan of SexxyRed, I just find her vocal delivery to be grating, and Drake drops incredibly corny lines even by his standards.
“Fuckin’ Up The Disco,” - Justin Timberlake: Another washed-up pop artist desperately trying to relive their glory days, JT’s current music is a far cry from his 2000s era classics. The dude’s not a bad singer by any means, but this track just completely lacks the charisma and fun production that his early stuff has. Very disappointing.
“BOMB,” - ¥$ (Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign) featuring Yuno Miles: While the inclusion of Yuno Miles improves this track, it doesn’t do it by much. The “bomb,” refrain whether its from him or Kanye’s daughters gets really irritating, really fast. I liked North’s contribution to the Vultures 1 track, “TALKING/ONCE AGAIN,” lyrically it’s very boring and the beat is incredibly repetitive. Another disappointing track from Kanye this year.
“Big Foot,” - Nicki Minaj: Unlike others, I don’t really care about the tasteless bars towards Megan thee Stallion, cuz it’s a diss track, and while sure there’s lines you don’t cross, rap beefs are supposed to be no holds barred. What makes this track bad is that it’s lyrically a very weak performance from Nicki, and her vocal delivery is unlistenable at times.
“Hind’s Hall,” - Macklemore: While I respect the message of this song, Macklemore comes off as way too preachy and like a try hard. He wants to be an activist so badly, and I don't disagree with the politics, but as a protest song it falls flat. The beat is terrible, and it doesn't feel like he's giving his own perspective, rather it just feels like he's regurgitating political talking points. I've never liked Macklemore's music and it feels like he's co-opting the Palestine liberation movement to make himself look like a good guy.
“Ronald,” - Falling In Reverse featuring Tech N9ne and Alex Terrible: I really don’t have much to say except that this track was so fucking terrible that I couldn’t even finish it. I have no idea what a talented artist like Tech N9ne is doing on this track. Legal and personal issues aside, as I don’t wanna get sued by Ronnie Radke, the nu metal production makes me sick to my stomach.
“The Heart Part 6,” - Drake: To put it mildly it’s been a very rough year for Drake, this track is no different. After Kendrick pretty much put the final nail in his coffin with, “Not Like Us,” Drake’s response to it was so bad that he took it down from all social media platforms. To be fair, he lost either way, response or not, but he made it ten times worse for himself with this track.
“Days of Girlhood,” - Dylan Mulvaney: The pop-punk vibe paired with the poor vocals make it a terrible track, if it’s a troll move to the conservatives who went ape shit over her being a spokesperson for Bud Light, than it’s a brilliant troll, but as a song, it’s awful. The vocals are off-key even with autotune.
“Grippy,” - Cash Cobain & J.Cole: I really expect more from a talented lyricist like J.Cole, this track has an annoying rhyme scheme from him, and incredibly corny lines. It’s definitely not the worst track on this list, but it’s still really hard to stomach.
“Thick Of It,” - KSI featuring Trippie Redd: Every time I’ve heard this track it’s been against my will. It sounds like total YouTuber music and I don’t mean that as a compliment. It’s another track that can’t be taken seriously by me, and Trippie Redd makes another terrible contribution this year.
