“Naomi,” - Neutral Milk Hotel: I’ve heard a lot about Neutral Milk Hotel, and this is the first song of theirs that I’ve ever listened to. I love the psychedelic and indie rock qualities of the track, and the happy, upbeat nature of the track. It’s about singer/guitarist Jeff Mangum’s obsession with former Galaxie 500 bassist/vocalist, Naomi Yang. I really want to listen to more of Neutral Milk Hotel’s music, as I really enjoy this song.

“Heads Will Roll,” - Yeah Yeah Yeahs: One of my favorite songs from one of my favorite bands, the whirly Mellotron main riff is so iconic and every time I hear this track I just want to dance. Karen O’s energetic vocals bring this high octane energy that is paired well with the fuzzy and reverbed guitars. A dance-rock classic. I highly recommend watching the music video as it’s a total blast to watch, and is quite humorous.

“MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT,” - Elley Duhé: I’m probably one of the few people who didn’t discover through TikTok. I can see why people like it though, with Elley’s vibrato vocals that showcase her solid range. I also like the acoustic guitar loop.

“Cherry Cola,” - Devon Again: Another indie rock track that I like for its romantic qualities. It’s not super complex, but despite that, I still highly enjoy it. I can’t wait to hear more from this artist.

“Alone,” - Hana Vu: A track from another album that I plan on reviewing in the near future. It’s yet again, another indie rock song. I guess I’ve just been interested in diving deeper into that genre. I’m glad that I am, as it’s helped me get through the week.
